Books That Build My Faith

If you have ever read a book that made you feel seen, like the author reached into your heart and gently named something you could not put into words yet, you know how powerful faith-filled writing can be.

For me, one of the most significant voices in my faith journey has been Lysa TerKeurst. Her books were among the first I picked up when I was searching for clarity, healing, and hope. Her honesty, her wisdom, and her willingness to write from real places have shaped not only my relationship with God but also how I write today.

Her words met me when I was wrestling with hard questions, when I was navigating heartbreak, and when I was starting to believe that my story mattered too. Her writing helped me realize that I do not have to be perfect to be purposeful, and that even our broken places can carry light.

More than that, her words made me feel less alone. There is something deeply comforting about reading someone who is not afraid to admit their struggles and still finds God faithful in the middle of them. That is the kind of writer I want to be too, someone who tells the truth with tenderness and reminds others they are not the only one walking through the valley.

My Go-To Lysa Terkeurst Books

It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way
A beautiful reminder that disappointment is not the end of the story. This book helped me understand that God is still good even when life does not go the way I planned.
Forgiving What You Can’t Forget
This one is powerful. It walked me through deep questions about forgiveness and healing, especially when closure feels out of reach.
Uninvited
A comfort for anyone who has ever felt on the outside. Lysa writes with so much compassion and truth about rejection, loneliness, and the assurance that we belong in God.
Coming Soon to My Stack: I Want to Trust You, But I Don’t
I am so excited to begin this one. The title alone speaks to a part of my story I am still healing from. Trust is something I have wrestled with, especially when it comes to relationships, disappointment, and unmet expectations. I already know this book will challenge me, but I am looking forward to leaning in and letting God meet me in that space.

A Note For You
Books can be sacred spaces. They carry us through seasons we did not know how to name. They help us see God more clearly, and sometimes, they remind us of who we are. If you are looking for something to nourish your spirit, start with whatever feels like hope in your hands. You never know, one line might stay with you for a lifetime.
