God, I Trust You With Today
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5
There was a morning not long ago when I had everything planned out. I woke up early, thinking I could get ahead on writing, clean the house, and finally make time for the quiet moment with God I kept putting off. But as the morning unfolded, one thing after another pulled me in a different direction.
By 11 a.m., I was sitting on the couch, surrounded by a list of unfinished tasks. Dishes in the sink, laundry still in the basket, phone calls I needed to make about appointments and bills — all of it weighing heavier than I expected. I wasn’t even sure where to start anymore. And in that moment, I felt completely worn out by the pressure to keep up with everything.
I kept thinking, “This isn’t how today was supposed to go.”
I don’t like when things fall apart. I don’t like loose ends or unexpected changes. I like structure, control, and clarity. But in that moment, in the middle of the mess of the morning, I felt a gentle whisper in my heart: “Will you trust Me with this too?”
It’s easy to trust when things are going smoothly, but faith is formed in the friction. Trust grows in the unpredictable places. God never promised every day would go according to our plans. He promised that His presence would be enough when ours falls short.
So I’m learning to say it even when I don’t feel ready: God, I trust You with today. With the mess. With the interruptions. With the uncertainty. I don’t need to understand every moment to walk in peace. I just need to remember who walks with me.
Maybe your morning is off track already. Maybe the day ahead feels too big, or too broken, or just too unknown. Wherever you are in it, take a breath and offer it up, not perfectly, but honestly. “God, I trust You with today.” He will meet you right there.
Prayer
Lord, I release my grip on today and give it to You. Help me trust even when things do not make sense. Remind me that Your plans are higher, Your love is steady, and I am safe in Your care. Thank You for being faithful, even in the chaos. Amen.
Personal Reflection
Is there something in your life right now that feels out of your control?
What would it look like to invite God into it instead of trying to fix it alone?
Write or pray the words: “God, I trust You with…” and fill in the blank honestly.
