Holy Ground in the Ordinary
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
—1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
Sometimes it feels like our days are too small to matter. We wake up, pour coffee, fold laundry, wash bottles, answer texts, clean the same mess we cleaned yesterday, and fall into bed wondering if any of it counted for something.
I used to believe I had to do something “big” for God to really use me. But lately, I have felt Him speak to me in the smallest places. In the quiet moments when my daughter is resting on my chest. In the way I gently respond when I would rather snap. In the act of speaking life over myself when I feel unseen or discouraged. Those moments are not wasted. They are holy.
One morning, while I was changing a diaper with sleep still in my eyes, I felt this unexpected wave of tenderness. It hit me that even this ordinary, repetitive act was an expression of love. And love is never unnoticed by God. He sees it all. He values it all.
The truth is, God meets us in the ordinary. In the piles of laundry. In the soft hum of worship music while we rock our babies. In the conversations we have with our spouses or friends when we are too tired to say anything but “I’m trying.”
Every moment surrendered to Him becomes sacred. Every unnoticed act of love is seen. Every task done with intention and care becomes a quiet offering. You do not need a platform or a spotlight to glorify God. Sometimes all you need is to be faithful right where your feet are.
Prayer
Lord, help me find You in the ordinary. Remind me that the small things matter and that I do not need to be impressive to be used by You. Thank You for seeing every quiet act of love, every task done in service, and every moment I offer to You. Let my home, my heart, and my everyday life become places where Your presence is known. Amen.
Personal Reflection
What ordinary routines fill most of your time right now?
How can you begin to see them as moments of worship instead of just tasks?
Where might God be asking you to slow down and recognize His presence?
Choose one area of your life that feels repetitive or overlooked. Ask God to meet you there and help you see it as holy ground.
